Project Overview

Bouncer Cricket is a passion project by Waleed Naeem, founder of Ataraxy Developers, built as a fast, mobile-friendly browser game around the final overs of a cricket run-chase. Players choose team colors, name a batter, and select a match length — Easy (one over, a slower timing bar), Medium (two overs, faster deliveries), or Hard (three overs, the smallest timing margin) — then time each shot against an incoming delivery to chase down the target.
Ataraxy Developers designed and built the entire experience from scratch: the delivery-timing engine, the shot-direction and power mechanics, a daily challenge system that generates a fresh delivery sequence each day, a competitive leaderboard, and the surrounding marketing site. As an unofficial fan game, it deliberately avoids official team logos, player photos, or licensed marks, keeping names and colors purely as gameplay flavor. The game also doubles as a lead-generation and sponsorship channel for Ataraxy, routing visitors toward contact and partnership inquiries for real client work.

The Challenge

Browser sports games are easy to make and easy to forget — most either oversimplify the sport into a single reflex test or overload it with menus and stats that kill the pick-up-and-play feel. Cricket in particular is difficult to compress: the tension of a run chase comes from timing, risk, and pressure building over several deliveries, and that had to survive being squeezed into a game that loads instantly and finishes in minutes.
The game also needed a reason to come back daily rather than being played once and abandoned, while staying account-free and download-free. And because it carries the Ataraxy name, it needed to double as a credible showcase of production-quality web game engineering — not just a novelty — without turning into an advertisement for the studio.

Our Approach

We built Bouncer Cricket around the single moment that makes limited-overs cricket compelling: the ball arriving at the crease and the split-second decision of when and how to play it. Everything else — difficulty tiers, shot direction, team and batter customization — was built to support that one core loop rather than dilute it with unnecessary systems.
To keep players coming back, we built a daily challenge that regenerates the delivery sequence every day, so every player on a given day faces the same chase and scores are directly comparable. We kept the surrounding product frictionless and honest: no accounts, no downloads, no forced ads, and a clear, low-pressure path to Ataraxy’s contact and sponsorship channels for anyone interested in the team behind it.

Core Principles

  • One clean core loop — read the delivery, choose the angle, time the tap
  • Daily challenge, shared sequence — everyone chases the same target on a given day
  • Zero friction to play — no accounts, no downloads, no in-app purchases
  • Fan-safe by design — no official logos, photos, or licensed team marks, flavor only
  • Short and shareable — a full match finishes in minutes and posts straight to the leaderboard
  • Soft-sell, not a hard sell — the game stands on its own, with Ataraxy contact links kept unobtrusive

What We Built

Final-Over Match Engine

A timing-based batting engine covering delivery pacing, a hitting zone, and shot direction via pointer or thumb movement, tuned across three difficulty tiers with progressively faster deliveries and smaller timing margins.

Team & Batter Customization

Players choose team colors and a batter name before each match, giving every run a personal identity without relying on any official or licensed branding.

Daily Challenge System

A fresh delivery sequence is generated each day, so every player faces an identical chase on a given day and results are directly comparable with friends.

Leaderboard

A competitive leaderboard ranking runs by score, wickets, and difficulty, filterable by Easy, Medium, and Hard, giving players a reason to replay and climb the rankings.

In-Game Controls

Fullscreen mode, difficulty selection, and a live “ready to bat” prompt guiding players to the hitting zone as each delivery arrives.

Lead-Generation & Sponsorship Footer

A low-pressure bridge from the game to Ataraxy Developers’ services, with a contact form for sponsorships, feedback, and hiring inquiries, plus a “Buy Me a Coffee” option for players who just want to support the project.

Results

Bouncer Cricket launched as a self-published side project rather than a client engagement, so results are tracked qualitatively rather than against a client KPI sheet. [Insert current player/session metrics, daily challenge participation, leaderboard entry counts, and any social/press pickup once available.]
As a portfolio piece, the project demonstrates Ataraxy’s ability to design and ship a complete, polished interactive product end-to-end — timing-based game engine, daily-content system, and a working sponsorship funnel — without a client brief driving the scope.

Technology Stack

  • Frontend: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript
  • Game Engine: Custom-built JavaScript timing and delivery engine
  • Daily Content: Server-generated daily delivery sequence
  • Leaderboard: Backend-tracked score, wicket, and difficulty ranking
  • Hosting: Static web hosting
